Does your product have a warranty?


Warranty and Disclaimer

SHIELDING INTERNATIONAL guarantees its Regular Lead and TL Lite Ply products against imperfections of the material and labor for a period of 2 years from date of purchase.  (Non-Lead or LF Strata 300 is limited to a 1 year warranty) This guarantee is limited to the repair or replacement of the garment in case of manufacturer defect. The guarantee does not cover any other responsibility.

How do I care for the apron?

Care of Aprons/Collars/Accessories         

Optimize the usage of your recently purchased x-ray apron by respecting a few simple suggestions:


  1. Storage: Don’t fold, crease, drape or sit down on your Shielding garments.  Hang your apron after each use on a rack or hanger (Model 200H) intended for this purpose.  

  2. Cleaning:  Keep your Shielding garment clean by wiping away stains as soon as possible (within 24 hours by preference), using mild temperature water and with soft detergent added into it.

*Do not iron *Do not use alcohol, or alcohol-based products


  1. Velcro must be secured properly to avoid snagging or tearing of fabric.  Always store apron with Velcro closed.

  2. Transportation:  Recommend Apron bag (Model AB) which comes with a tube for rolling up garment to prevent creasing.



Please inspect your garment thoroughly upon receipt and at regular intervals. This apron must be inspected on a regular basis to ensure good homogeneous protection as well as the state of sewing.  


During a plain film radiographic inspection, you may observe:

  1. Light spots, small or large, may appear which indicate localized thicker attenuating content particles.  This effect increases x-ray protection and should be of no concern.


  1. Darker shaded areas can appear which usually indicates a thickness variation in the material.  If a sharp edge defines the darker area, this may be the result of damage to one or more of the garment’s 2 to 5 plies of protective material.  This is often caused by stress from the misuse and/or improper handling of these garments (i.e. folding, draping or creasing the garments).


  1. A small amount of dark spots, often referred to as pin holing, can appear which is inherent to the manufacturing process.  As long as there are no dark spots exceeding 5 mm in diameter health physicists have determined they are of no concern.  This should not be interpreted as defective manufacturing.  There should be concern if you find dark spots or holes larger than 5 mm or an area which shows many small spots clumped together.


  1. There should be concern if dark lines appear as they usually indicate possible cracks or severe thinning in the material.  This is normally caused by one or more plies cracking or deteriorating as a result of misuse, mishandling, or age.


  1. Please inspect garments for any visible defects in workmanship and notify us immediately if your garment is not satisfactory.

What is the difference in the lead protection choices?

 This symbol means: protection against ionizing radiation.  


The letter “i” shows that the user must take notice of the instructions written in the user guide and also on the apron.

Optimize your choice of protection according to the maximum exposure potential used during your procedures. Alternate protection/equivalencies may be ordered in varying formats (i.e., 0.35mm, 0.25mm Pb equivalencies, etc, higher or lower). For users involved in interventional radiology procedures, dual-type aprons (with front & back shielding) are recommended to ensure all-around protection. 

Discounts may apply when reducing Pb equivalency.
